Scott Mosby Confirms The Robust Health of Local Remodeling
Thursday, December 13th, 2007
Scott Mosby was asked for his views on the current state of metropolitan St. Louis home remodeling for a piece in the current issue of the St. Louis Business Journal. Read the entire article here.
There are several factors that contribute to the recent upsurge in home renovation: slumping new home sales, adjustable rate mortgage upheavals, and the switch from a seller’s market to a buyer’s market.
Along with the economic factors are the numbers: the first half of the Baby Boom generation is now deciding how to shape their post-retirement lifestyle, and where to live it. That often means a reappraisal of the home they raised their family in, trusty homes in communities that have served them well.
Is there a way to stay in a beloved neighborhood and have the kind of home that caters to the way they want to live now? Yes, there is, and that answer - remodeling - is a growing factor in the health of our industry.
In the article, Scott also points out the all-important emotional factor that inspires improvements to an existing home: “The baby boomer’s finally have the time, money and motivation to focus on themselves and their homes.”
2007 has been our best year ever because many of our clients are visionary Boomers who have made a commitment to themselves and their home. They work with us to create the ultimate environment for the way they want to live now: flexible, functional and beautiful. The strength of the remodeling industry is directly tied to the desires and needs of the families. Their sentiment appears to be: Let’s improve what we already have.
Not only is that a rather “green” sentiment, but an empowering thought, as well. And we’re thrilled to be the home improvement professionals that can help them make a positive difference.
