When considering a bathroom remodel, selecting fixtures and finishes within your budget is the key to a successful project. For this exercise, I chose a look for a bathroom and selected key items to create that look at two different price points.
Can you guess which selection board has the modest budget vs. the lavish budget?
At first glance, both boards look similar. This demonstrates that there are plenty of options available in every price range, so the size of your budget need not be a concern to reaching your aesthetic goal.
Now, let’s break down the prices on each board to get the answer.
MODEST BUDGET

STARTING PRICE: $3,556.89
For each group of selections, the starting price goes up depending on how much paint and tile is required for the size of the bathroom. But this does illustrate the differences in price depending on which vendors you choose.

One of the beauties of setting your materials budget in advance is that you can mix and match low- and high-end selections to get to the same look. For instance, if the materials budget for this bathroom is set at $7,000, I could use everything on the Modest Budget board except splurge a bit by using the porcelain tile from the Lavish Budget board.
By juggling the items and the amounts, I can stay within a fixed price range without sacrificing style. This is one of the eternal fascinations with designing, and why I especially love the design parameters of a bathroom remodel.
