Mosby is the #1 Remodeler in St. Louis

Mosby Number One Mosby is the #1 Remodeler in St. Louis

The three most-read national magazines in the remodeling industry have clocked in with their yearly rankings, and we’ve eagerly poured over the results to see not only where we placed, but to see how our local peers are doing. Through these tough economic times, the remodeling professionals in Metropolitan St. Louis are fairing well, which is heartening and encouraging information.

We also discovered from all the stats that we are the #1 Remodeler in Metro St. Louis for 2011, which is a pleasant shock! This is based on the following:

• #1 Market Leader in St. Louis per Professional Remodeler.

• #94 nationwide per Qualified Remodeler.

• #19 nationwide per Remodeling.

Treating our client’s homes as if they were our own is a guiding principal at Mosby Building Arts. We make sure that everyone involved has clearly defined expectations, and a project is only deemed successful when a homeowner says those expectations are met or exceeded.

This means that these type of industry rankings are possible because of the relationships built between us and our homeowners.  So to every one of our clients, we send our deepest thanks for supporting us. And here’s a big round of applause for our conscientious and enthusiastic Mosby team. Thanks for making it such a memorable year!

pro remod market leader Mosby Ranked #1 in Metro St. Louis

For the second year in a row, Mosby Building Arts has been ranked as the top remodeling company in St. Louis, according to Professional Remodeler magazine’s Market Leaders poll.

The annual Market Leaders list identifies the largest remodelers in the 19 top remodeling markets. The list is compiled through a combination of Professional Remodeler staff research and information provided by the companies.

51% of the companies identified as Market Leaders reported their revenue was up from the previous year. Remodeling is an industry very much affected by a depressed economy, so an increase in 2010 remodeling revenue hopefully means homeowners are doing better and feeling more confident about investing in their biggest asset – their home.

“In difficult economic times, we want to be free of the fear of making bad decisions, especially when spending on home improvements,” says Scott Mosby, president and owner of Mosby Building Arts. “There’s a measure of security in working with a company that’s been around for over 60 years – you tend to feel better knowing they will always be there to take care of you and your home.

“We continually strive to deliver problem-free service and long-lasting value to our clients and building relationships is just as important as, say, building a room addition. An honor such as being #1 in St. Louis is really a tribute to our clients, and I’d like to thank each of them, as well as Professional Remodeler.”

Mosby designer Adrienne Nienkamp & Mosby architect Brian Yount hold the Homer Awards for the projects they worked with the homeowners on.

We are pleased to have won two Homer Awards (the Oscar of local residential remodeling) from the Home Builders Association of St. Louis & Eastern Missouri.  This marks the Homer’s 42nd year of recognizing excellence in design, workmanship and value, and our 10th consecutive year of being honored with the distinctive Homer statue.

Homer Award for Outstanding Interior Renovation The one-car attached garage of a home in Affton, Missouri was converted into a working studio and display space for a veteran quilter.  There is a loft area for contemplation, inspiration and drawing new designs. She then walks down the stairs to her work space to bring the designs to life, and when they are complete she has lighting and fixtures in place to display her work.

It was a unique adventure for our architect Brian Yount, AIA and project manager Jill Huckelberry to collaborate on this project with the gifted quilter, and we are honored to share this award with her.

Homer Award for Outstanding Addition The imminent arrival of their mother inspired a Chesterfield couple to add an apartment to their home so she would have privacy, autonomy and comfort. Our project planner Adrienne Nienkamp, CKD, CAPS, designed an accessible apartment with master bathroom that also gave the couple a new laundry room, butler’s pantry and deck.

Click to see more photos and details of the award-winning mother in-law apartment.

Mosby project manager James Roney worked closely with the couple to create a new wing of the home that feels as if it’s always been there, and the lady of the house (Sheryl) enjoyed the process so much that she blogged about it. Here’s links to her blog entries about the apartment project .

Upon learning their project won a Homer, Sheryl replied, “That’s terrific news! We are delighted to be part of such a successful project. In fact, we have enjoyed it so much that we are kind of sorry to see it end. We’d like to have our crew come by every week! And we’ve told Mom that she’ll be getting a little guy to live with her soon!”

And then she took to her blog to share the Homer excitement!

While being honored with awards certainly has its appeal, the best part is the relationships we have built with one another that made both of these projects so special. So thank you to the homeowners who inspired us to new heights and joined the Mosby team to make these life enhancing projects possible. And we look forward to seeing that Homer displayed in their homes!

Remodeling 550 2010 Mosby Ranks as a Top National Remodeler

Mosby Building Arts is pleased to be recognized as a top full-service remodeling firm as ranked by a national industry publication.

Mosby is #22 on the Remodeling 550 list of full-service home improvement companies in the nation, as compiled by Remodeling magazine. They are one of two St. Louis companies to make the list.

The industry acknowledges that 2009 was a difficult year for remodelers across the nation, as shrinking home equity credit and personal incomes made homeowners cautious about undertaking remodeling projects.

Scott Mosby, president of Mosby Building Arts, attributes the ability of his company to thrive during these trying economic times to their 63 years of experience helping homeowners enhance the comfort and value of their biggest investments.

“Your home requires constant maintenance,” Scott said, “and homeowners are now concentrating on the improvements that deliver a guaranteed return on investment. Projects like new roofing, siding, and energy efficiency benefit you now and have long-term value. Homeowners want to work with companies that have the knowledge and the longevity. It’s about the security of working with a company that will treat you and your home with respect and will be around for decades to make sure their home performs as expected.”

Scott notes that “rather than building room additions, we build relationships. And at the end of the day, that’s what matters most – family, comfort and security. Those are our top priorities, and it’s why we are grateful to have so many long-term clients that trust us to take care of them.”

On May 13th, Scott and Judy Mosby, owners of the St. Louis architecture and remodeling firm Mosby Building Arts, accepted the Small Business Administration (SBA) award for Family-Owned Business of 2010.

Mosby is the Region VII winner of the Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business award because three generations of Mosby’s have propelled the company into a multi-million dollar enterprise while cultivating productive relationships with employees, clients, and the community. As a nationally recognized Top 10 remodeler, Mosby strives to contribute to the knowledge and integrity of their industry and also give back to the community through organizations like ReBuilding Together St. Louis, which helps lower income homeowners stay in their homes.

“Our company is about helping our neighbors stay in their homes, whether career-based or volunteer-based,” says Scott Mosby. “We serve the same mission because we believe it in our bones. Our activity is congruent with our belief, consistent with our values and mission, which is ‘Make a positive difference in people’s lives everyday.’”

A video created and produced by the SBA nicely sums up the passion and commitment of Scott and Judy Mosby that results in receiving such an honor from the federal government:

At the SBA award ceremony, Scott and Judy received the official trophy (shown below) as well as a proclamation from Missouri Congressman Russ Carnahan, wherein he writes:

“I believe that the prosperity of our community thrives on the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of our dedicated local business owners. Mosby Building Arts, Ltd. remains one of the area’s top full service residential remodeling companies. With a visions statement of ‘Make a positive difference in people’s lives every day’ it is no wonder your company has continued to prosper; providing the highest quality products and outstanding customer service.”

Upon receiving the award, Scott Mosby embodied the collaborative spirit of his company when he said from the podium:

“On behalf of the people that I work with and represent, you have our deep gratitude. It’s an honor to represent the richness of so many relationships that have brought us here. And to the people I’ve met through the Small Business Week, this has been an affirming, exciting and touching experience, and we thank you.”

Mosby Building Arts is honored to have received a 2009 BBB Torch Award for honest business ethics and exceptional customer satisfaction.

The customer service intent of the Better Business Bureau award means so much to us because our vision is proudly stated as, “Make a positive difference in people’s lives everyday.”  Or as our president Scott Mosby explains, “We think differently about remodeling; we know it’s not just about floorplans, selections and construction schedules. We help people improve their lives by improving their surroundings, so the people come first.”

Our approach to client service is unique in the remodeling industry, because projects are a team effort including us and the homeowner.  “We do things with you, not to you,” says Scott with a chuckle.  “Our approach is less painful and more sympathetic. We help you avoid the confusion and trouble often associated with home improvements. ”

The BBB was impressed with the continual training and process improvement of our deep bench of Mosby professionals.  This translates to serving the best interests and long-term needs of our clients.  Scott summed it up as, “We’re on the same team together with our clients.”

After the renovation.

Mosby Building Arts and the proud homeowners know this project is special, and are deeply satisfied with the improvements that will last them a lifetime.  It turns out that others also appreciate the skill and design that went into enhancing this home.

This exterior renovation project in South St. Louis County is honored with two awards:

The Home Builder’s Association of Greater St. Louis Homer Award for Outstanding Total Renovation, which recognizes excellence in design, workmanship and value in residential projects

The CertainTeed Award of Excellence, which is a national award based on the creativity, craftsmanship, attention to detail and overall presentation of a project that uses CertainTeed products.

This home, built in the mid-1980s, was ready for new roofing, siding and windows, and the owners searched for outstanding materials with strong value. Their research brought them to two conclusions: CertainTeed had the best roofing and siding products, and Mosby Building Arts were the most qualified designers and installers to deliver lasting value for their home.

Both judges and the homeowners alike appreciated the Mosby Building Arts master plan that delivers beauty, function, reliability and real peace of mind. The judges cited the exceptional craftsmanship that delivered on the quality of the CertainTeed products.  Care and craftsmanship were acknowledged as crucial to protect the value of these quality products.

You can see more of this award-winning project here.

We at Mosby Building Arts appreciate the efforts of the judges in recognizing our design and workmanship that transformed the exterior of this home.  We extend our thanks to Wholesale Siding Depot for working with us to guarantee such a successful outcome.

Our deepest thanks go to our award-winning homeowners who remained committed to the best quality and service available. Their peace of mind from a job done right is our highest praise and as they wrote:

“We are so happy with our home. We did not realize how bad it looked until we saw the finished results. Just beautiful! All of the Mosby crew were very nice, and treated our home as if it were their own. We are very proud of our renovated home, and these awards are pretty cool for all of us involved in our beautiful home!”

Mosby is a “Top 10 National Remodeler”

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

550 logo Mosby is a Top 10 National Remodeler

Mosby Building Arts has always been the leading name for remodeling solutions in the St. Louis area.  Now we are once again recognized as a national leader, as well. Remodeling magazine recently published the “Remodeling 550,”a list of the biggest companies and franchise organizations in the home improvement industry.  Of 300 full-service U.S. remodeling companies, Mosby Building Arts is ranked Number Eight.

Although the companies are ranked on the basis of sales volume, we recognize that our rating as a Top 10 National Remodeler represents much more than just a dollar value.  We feel it reflects our consistent dedication to hundreds of homeowners who team with us each year to enhance their surroundings – and their quality of life.  We are honored to make a positive difference in both their homes and their lives.

It’s just another example of how we at Mosby think differently.  We’re much more than remodelers – we help people to live better and maximize the value of their homes.  That’s an important benefit in this unsure economy, and yet another way that Mosby helps homeowners to enjoy “The Art of Living.”

We would like to thank all of our valued clients who trust us with both their homes and their peace of mind.  Because of you, we are proud to be recognized as a Top 10 National Remodeler and we could not achieve this without you!
