Our Warranty Technician is a New Dad

Hunter Lane Our Warranty Technician is a New Dad

Hunter (above) was born to Candice and Justin Lane on December 7, 2011. Their firstborn is happy, healthy and adorable. And as if being a new Daddy doesn’t keep him busy enough, Justin has something else to do this month.

Justin Lane with ponytail Our Warranty Technician is a New Dad

See Justin’s ponytail in the picture above? He’s cutting it off for Locks of Love. This will be the second time he has done so.

Another highlight of Justin’s big year is that he became the Mosby Building Arts Warranty Technician. This is a new position for the company, created to maximize the efficiency of caring for past clients. Because this covers such a broad spectrum of home improvement projects, we need a craftsman who could analyze and solve any problem that arose. Justin was the logical choice.

The Kirkwood native started at Mosby in 2001 as a carpenter helper, and as he advanced his skills in framing, shingling and drywalling he became a Lead Carpenter. What is another specialty he developed? “My favorite challenge is water management,” says Justin. “I love detecting and solving water leak problems!”

We extend our heartiest congratulations to Candice and Justin Lane for the arrival of Hunter, and are pleased that our clients now have the peace of mind that comes from Justin as our Warranty Technician.

Denny’s First Triathlon

denny corr 01 Dennys First Triathlon

Our Home Consultant Denny Corr (above) took part in his very first triathlon on Saturday, August 20, 2011, as part of the Lake St. Louis Triathlon.

Denny began biking in earnest about 3 years ago, as a way to take better care of himself both physically and mentally. Hearing family members and friends talking about taking part in the triathlon got him interested in taking on a new challenge, so for the last 6 months he has been in training for the day.

He concentrated most on his weak spot – swimming, since the short course he signed up for begins with a 1/4 mile swim. And he set a realistic goal of being able to complete all three legs in two hours or less in the 60-65 age bracket. Along with a 10-pound weight loss, the triathlon training has markedly improved is endurance and attitude, so he was already satisfied with the results.

So how’d Denny do? We’ll let him tell it in his own words:

“The triathlon became a bi-athlon! After waiting for almost an hour to start the swim leg of the race the organizers called off the swim because the risk of lighting from the storm that just wouldn’t go away. As a result, they started the bike section of the event in the rain, and we pretty much did the entire bike ride in the rain. Just as I was entering the transition area from bike to foot, the rain stopped so the running was completed without rain.

“I came in 5th in my division with a total time of 1:14:55. My bike run (12 miles) was 44:01 at an average speed of 16.8 mph. My running time (2.5 miles) was 28:48, or an average of an 11:32 mile. The remaining time was transitioning from one event to another.

“For me personally, I exceeded the times I was aiming for along with the satisfaction of completing the event. But since I haven’t officially completed a triathlon, I will be looking for another event so the complete experience can be accomplished.”

Some of the Mosby team was on hand to cheer Denny on (Ken Ware took these photos), and they had a surprise moment when they saw another familiar face go running by – Mosby carpenter Eric Perkins!

Congratulations Denny on doing so well with your bucket list challenge. We’re so proud of you (and exhausted thinking about it!), and look forward to seeing your next triathlon.

MOSBY MASONRY
With the addition of Randy Sloss and his son Danny, Mosby can assure the quality and timely progress of all brick and stone remodeling projects. Randy and Danny specialize in all manner of brick and stone construction, tuckpointing, chimney caps and retaining walls.

The Sloss family connection runs even deeper, as Randy’s father, Bob, owned Sloss Masonry, who was responsible for much of the St. Louis skyline during the mid-century. Bob worked closely with Scott Mosby’s father, Sam, building custom homes from the late 1950s through the 1960s.  Randy and his son continue two more generations of master masonry, just as Sam Mosby has passed his construction skills and honest work ethic onto Scott Mosby and his sons.

Remodeling: It’s All in the Family

Remodeling your home is really about improving your life, but we are fully aware of our clients’ concerns. For instance, the thought of having your daily routine interrupted is disconcerting, so our remodeling field crew is attentive and empathetic to the homeowners living under upheaval. This kind of attention to people is what makes them so beloved by so many of our clients, and as shown in the photo above, why they were blessed with good wishes and good food over the holidays!
mosby%20remodeling%20crew%20luncheon%2002 Remodeling: Its All in the Family

Our guys are in this family’s home for a library room addition and new front facade in Ladue. The client’s are loving the work, and loving the Mosby carpenters, and the Friday before Christmas they pulled out all the stops and made a buffet style lunch for them! You’re looking at the photos the lady of the house took of them enjoying their surprise gift. We will be done with their project by the end of this month (we’ll share the finish photos with you!), and as often happens with Mosby projects, both the crew and the homeowners are a little sad to part. But it’s never “goodbye,” only “see you later,” because along with improving lives, we build long-term relationships. Or on this day, our guys built luncheon plates, and send their sincere thanks for a great meal!
