While recently photographing a master bathroom (see the project here), we were delighted by the company of TJ, a puppy Papillon. The Mosby crew who worked on the bathroom project had quite the adventure when TJ got out of the house and ran off down the street, and they took off after him, caught him and brought him safely back home.
And the crew got comfortable with TJ’s “sister” Gracie, who shared lunch with the guys, Monday through Friday (above photo). The homeowner told us that her dogs miss the guys because they got so much love and attention, and this is not the first time we’ve been told about the relationship between the Mosby production crews and Man’s Best Friend.
This got us to reminiscing about all the canine friends we’ve had the pleasure to meet while photographing finished remodeling projects and we’d like to share them with you.
Molly the basset (above) lives with our long-time Creve Coeur client. During this photo shoot of their outdoor living project (see the project here), Molly gave us a guided tour. Then her “brother” Jake went one better: he demonstrated exactly how to use the dog ramp we designed for all 3 of the basset hounds in the house. Click to see Jake on their doggie ramp!
Sometimes the canine members of the family are camera shy, like on this project (above), while other times…
… a chocolate lab knows he coordinates so well with his new kitchen that he makes sure to saunter into the shot.
Sometimes, they are so unconcerned with all the activity that they simply fall asleep, like the King Charles spaniel in a family room addition (above)…
…while other times, we disrupt their beauty sleep! Though she wasn’t too awfully upset, because if you click through to all these home makeover photos, you’ll spot her resting comfortably in her bed as the camera snapped away.
Seal the German Shepard (above) served double duty as a Project Manager for her finished basement and her master bathroomand worked as a stylist on the photo shoot!
And every exterior renovation needs a dutiful border collie to keep the construction crew in line…or throw out the Frisbee for them!
Remodeling is really about building relationships, and we are proud to have so many wonderful canine members of the Mosby Building Arts family.

Credits Count: Smart Design Is Your Smart Buy
Scott Mosby shares how to design your home to gain the most comfort, energy efficiency, and tax credits. Scott’s show times at the Better Living Theater in the Dome are:
The level of detail in the painted cardboard is awe-inspiring. You can almost ehar the sound of a glass ball ornament rolling across the floor, which awakens…
…Cindy Lou Who, who is no more than 2!
Gingerbread Cube
The level of detail on this cube is overwhelming. The two ladies responsible for this candy land cut out every single piece by hand and pasted it together and up onto the house. The icing is via caulk gun.
Quite the arts & crafts accomplishment!
Old Mosby Logo Cube
Our old company logo featured a house, and one of our carpenters recreated that logo as only a builder can.
The Christmas trees are decorated with our old business cards.
And even his fish Elmo gets a hat (on the tank) and a stocking, which holds his fish food!
NASCAR Christmas
These 2 ladies sit in an extra-wide cubicle which they refer to as “the double-wide trailer.” Thus was born NASCAR Christmas. They have an actual NASCAR tire that was donated by one of our fellow employees.
Their level of cultural detail was accurate and loving. We’ve all fallen in love with Killer, the stuffed pit bull!
The Mosby Building Arts office is in preparations for the 1st Annual Christmas Cube Decorating Contest. Final judging for the three top prizes takes place on Monday, December 21st, so many of the cubes are in-progress, waiting until the big day to pull out the show stoppers.
We share with you now the 3 cubes that are gloriously done.
Candy Cane Condo
The stockings hung by the chimney with care are for the judges!
Each window cleverly depicts what is actually on the other side of the cubicle wall.
Holiday Clothing Cube
Where holiday clothing gag gifts go for a little sympathy and lovin’.
Yes, that’s a Farrah Fawcett beauty center head up on the shelf.
Happy Holly Days
Overhead storage space was sacrificed for a Christmas village!
These are the 3 contestants who are done with their cubes. We have more contestants to showcase with photos and video AND announcing the winners! Stay tuned.
We joined with ReBuilding Together St. Louis, hundreds of local volunteers and HGTV to remodel the home of Hence Forland, and now we all come together once more to see the final results of our collaboration. Hence is a Desert Storm veteran who opens his home to homeless veterans, so it is appropriate that on Veteran’s Day we honor his dedication with the ultimate gift of transformation.
The Moolah Theatre doors open for this free event at 6 pm. The special will be broadcast on the big movie screen promptly at 7 pm. Celebrate with us and all the volunteers, veterans, and recipients involved in the restoration of the Windsor Transitional Home. This effort was a year in the making, and you can experience the first viewing of “the reveal” on HGTV with all of us. Click here for more viewing party details.
This was one of the most inspiring projects we’ve been involved with, and the sense of community pride it created remains with us always. Come share the energy and celebration at the Moolah Theatre on November 11th.
The Mosby Solution Center returns to the Fall Home & Remodeling Show, October 9 – 11, 2009 at the St. Charles Convention Center. Free admission and free parking makes it easy to visit with Mosby and receive answers to all your home enhancement questions in one location.
