Kirkwood Porch & Garage

A house goes from average to “wow” by rethinking the exterior. Vinyl siding is replaced with cedar siding stained light grey, and Craftsman-style shutters highlight the windows.

The existing garage with its rear entry was reconfigured for front entry with a new driveway. The new space is greatly expanded to accommodate a boat, a mudroom and laundry room. Carriage garage doors echo the shutter look.

Tying everything together is a striking new wrap-around front porch. The stamped and colored concrete porch, with a continuous step, is purposely kept low to the ground to avoid railing requirements. The columns have a cultured stone base with limestone caps, and porch ceiling fans make it a breezy retreat that now serves as another “room” for the home.
