Webster Groves Front Porch

Our clients’ 1898-built home deserved a more authentic look, and were looking to accomplish this with reliable, honest craftsmanship.

A Mosby architect designed an open-air covered front porch to return the house to its former grandeur. Authenticity was accomplished with tongue & groove fir flooring, and a stained bead board ceiling. The new space was detailed with a lighted ceiling fan and recessed can lights.

The home’s original wood clapboard had long been covered with vinyl siding. Mosby carpenters removed all layers and replaced it with Hardie Board lap siding, which is a durable façade with a an appropriate look.

The original stone foundation was repaired, and all roof and window soffits were replaced with the same wood bead board as on the porch ceiling. To complete the feel, historically correct ornamentation was added to the front gable and dormers. Applying time-tested craftsmanship to updated materials brought the house closer to its original appearance, and allows it to serve for another century.

See the back porch we did for this family.
