Paint UGL Drylock Moisture Coating

Q. What is a good moisture membrane for slowing moisture penetration? I am finishing my basement and want to do what you suggest on the radio and minimize any moisture between my frame walls and concrete foundation walls.

A. UGL Drylock is a good white paint coating that is available at retail stores for a moisture coating. They sell it as a water proofer but I believe in it's effectiveness for limiting water vapor coming through masonry and concrete.

It is effective but any movement in the block, stone, concrete or substrate cracks the Drylock too so it is not a good water proofer in my opinion. It does not span movement in the substrate.

It applies on raw and uncoated concrete and masonry so surface prep is very important as in every paint coating. Please read the instructions and follow them for an effective internal membrane.
